What grades are available at Day Waterman College now?
Year 7 to 9.  Year 10 will open in September 2010.

Is the school co-educational?
Yes.

What is the capacity of the school?

Approximately 700 students at full capacity.

Is there an application deadline?

Yes.  8 January 2010.

Are "yes" and "no" the only decisions that you make on my child's application?

No, there are 3 possible decisions:
·  Admit           The student has been accepted to study at DWC for the coming year.
·  Deny             The student is not accepted.
·  Wait List       The student is admissible but there is no space currently available.

What does Day Waterman College look for in applicants?
As we are offering a broad, rigorous program, we are looking for evidence of a young person's preparation to succeed at DWC. We look at the whole child, paying particular attention to:
·  A passion for learning
·  Intellect, evidenced by a history of academic success
·  Ability to fit into a boarding environment
·  Sociable and Respectful
·  Well disciplined
·  Sporting ability
·  Ability in creative arts

Will my child be able to continue to develop their preferred musical instrument skills at DWC or would they have to give it up?

Music is part of the curriculum at DWC.  Students may also sign up for private tuition on their chosen instrument (for an added fee).

Does my child need a personal interview?

YES!  Candidates who pass the entrance examination will be interviewed on the school site.

I live a long way from DWC. How can I meet with someone from the Admissions team?

You may call the College to make a specific appointment.

How many new students do you enrol each year?

There are places for 100 year 7 students each year.

How competitive is the applicant pool?

Admission to DWC is highly selective and the applicant pool is already competitive.

What required fees can I expect to pay?

Application fee: NGN 10,000
School fees: NGN 2,400,000 per annum

I'm very interested in DWC but I'm not sure I can afford the full fee. Does DWC offer financial assistance?
No.  No bursaries are available at present.

What do the fees cover?

Fees cover tuition, boarding, books, all activities and programs that are part of the DWC curriculum. Costs for private music lessons and some school trips are not covered.

Why should we consider sending our child to a boarding school?

Students thrive at boarding schools because of the opportunities and care they offer.

What does the boarding experience offer?

In residence, students learn important and lasting life skills. Students grow as independent thinkers, responsible young adults and confident problem solvers. When they enter university, they can draw from their boarding experience within DWC's supportive care.

Can boarding students become day students?

No. Without exception DWC is a boarding only school.

Do you have a full listing of courses?

The students will sit the IGCSEs from University of Cambridge International Examinations in Year 11 and the International Baccalaureate in Year 13.
The curriculum has been structured to ensure that the students receive the adequate training and information required to ensure they are prepared for most careers and is split into 5 areas:
·  Linguistics
·  Humanities & Social Sciences
·  Sciences
·  Mathematics & ICT
·  Creative,Technical & Vocational
Students will be required to take 10 subjects at IGCSE.
From 2011 Year 9  students will sit the Cambridge International Examinations(CIE)Check Point examinations in English, Mathematics and Science.

What is the maximum class size?
20 students.

What languages can students learn?

We teach English, French, Yoruba at present and when the school increases we hope to also offer Igbo or Hausa Languages.

Does DWC have Saturday classes?
Yes. We have a rigorous academic program from Monday to Saturday midday.

Calendar:
School runs from the end of August to the end of June each year.

Does the school have a religious affiliation?
Respecting all faiths, students will be assisted to practice their own faith. DWC has no religious affiliations.
