Events - Open Day and School Launch

On Saturday 14th November 2009 students, staff, parents and over 500 guests including government officials, captains of industry, religious and community leaders, joined together to celebrate the Official Launch of Day Waterman College. The day began with a private visit from the Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who toured the school and spoke briefly to the students. 

Students took visitors on a tour of the buildings including visits to the classrooms where there were displays of students work and teachers were on hand to talk to prospective parents.  The Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, officiated in the ribbon cutting ceremony which was followed by speeches and presentations by the students in the Dining Hall. 

In his speech the Chairman urged others to follow his example in offering educational opportunities to the children if Nigeria, regardless of their socio-economic status. The Governor commended Mr Tayo Aderinokun for his vision and efforts.
A marquee reception offered refreshments before guests departed early afternoon.

Many visitors expressed their admiration for all that has been achieved at DWC. It is hoped that the day will generate donations for the scholarship fund and encourage parents to choose DWC for their children.
