The complete care education system

The educational approach to be adopted by the College is the Complete Care Education System (CCES) which has been specifically developed for implementation at DWC. The system is complete because it offers young boys and girls the unique experience of living and learning in an environment that is dedicated to not just the highest level of academic achievements but also to personal growth and development.

The school will provide an up-to date statement covering the aims and organisation of the school, admission criteria, outline of facilities and welfare support for boarders, any special religious or cultural aspects of the school and relate as appropriate to relevant school policies and practice. This will be available to parents, boarders and staff.

Students will be taught in small classes which enable individual attention to each child. Quality teaching with expectations of high standards will enable each student to achieve his/her potential. Quality facilities and equipment will be provided to support the learning environment. Students will partake in a breadth of extra curricular activities; sports, outdoor education, skills, music and cultural activities. They will have access to a range of safe recreational areas. Boarders will be looked after by staff, extremely dedicated to student welfare, following clear boarding policies and practice. Sound staff/student relationships will be fostered and students’ privacy respected. Each student will have one or more members of staff to whom he/she can turn for personal guidance or with a personal problem.

The school will have an effective policy on countering bullying, which is implemented successfully in practice. It will also have, and follow, a fair and appropriate policy on behaviour, discipline and use of punishments.

Boarders will have satisfactory sleeping accommodation, provision to study and adequate private toilet and washing facilities, all secure from public intrusion. Adequate laundry provision will be made for boarders clothing and bedding. They will receive first aid and health care as necessary, be suitably accommodated, and adequately supervised and looked after when ill.

Meals will be provided to boarders which are adequate in quantity, quality and choice, and provision will be made for special dietary, medical or religious needs. There will be access to drinking water and food at reasonable times in addition to main meals.

Boarders will be able to maintain private contact with their parents and families. Provision will be made to protect boarders’ possessions and money. Students will be able to obtain minor necessary personal and stationery items while at school.
